Ancient Jar
Passage 15
JERTEH: Three farmers found a large jar, five smaller jars and a flower vase a week ago. The farmers were tilling their land near the foot of a hill.
Seng Kang said, “My hoe struck something hard when I was working. I thought it was a rock so I did not take notice of it until it struck the second time. I was curious and I bent down examine what it was. It was a large jar. I dug it up and found it was an ancient and unusual jar. “
Two days later, the three went to the farm again. Not far away from where the large jar was found were five smaller jars. The jars were are found by Seng Kang’s brother, Meng Kang. He was clearing the roots of some small trees when he saw the jars. To his great surprise there were thirty-three gold coins in the jars. They were strange gold coins, square in shape with ancient designs.
On another days, Seng Kang’s cousin Hang Kang found a flower vase near a huge rock. He was looking for a pointed stone to clear his hoe when he saw part of the vase on the surface of the soil.
