Passage 24
Sekolah Menengah Parit Sulong sent its team for a tug of war contest with Sekolah Menengah Parit Unas.
Before the contest, the boy of Sekolah Menengah Parit Sulong practised hard. They learned to pull the rope together. They trained under Encik Salleh, the sports teacher of the school. Encik Salleh taught them how to stand went pulling the rope, how to pull the rope and how to listen command.
“We’re sure to win,” Teck Chai said.
“We must do our best on that day,” Ahmad said.
On the day, a bus-load of boys from Sekolah Menengah Parit Unas came. Teck Chai and his friend saw them. They were discouraged. The boys were bigger and taller.
“We’re sure to lose Ahmad. Look at them. They are huge,”said Teck Chai.
“Don’t worry Teck Chai. Let’s try our best,” Ahmad said.
The contest began. Sekolah Menengah Parit Sulong team worker closely together. They won the tug of war. Everyone was surprised because they were smaller in size.
